Pull a move out of the hat...
Using index cards, laminated squares, cardstock or any other material of choice, create a deck of dancing moves to throw in a hat, bucket, bowl, etc.
Make a decision as a group if each move is going to last for eight beats or 16 beats! The fewer beats, the more advanced the group.
Choose any lively music and allow students to pull a dance move out of the hat. Start with that move until everyone has is learned, now add move #2. Keep going until students have put together an entire dance!

Start with one student and allow them to make up their own eight beats of dance steps. They may then teach that combination to the rest of the group.
Student #2 now adds on their own eight beats... and so on.
By the end of the group, you have an original dance!
