12345678 Challenge

Trending on social media, a challenge for any individual or group to perform a number ladder, keeping consistent rhythm while removing numbers on the way up and adding them back in on the way back!
Challenge 1: Spoken (see TikTok video by @madicubb)
Challenge 2: Add pitch (see TikTok video by @remembermonday)

Ultimate Karaoke

Divide Students into small groups that will work together, think together and SING together!

Choose a game host/judge.  This can be a staff person or a confident student leader.
The game host announces a word.  The small groups then work quickly to come up with songs that include that word!
The host then points at one group at a time (stay in the same order each time around the room) and the group must sing a portion of their song including the magic word.
Groups can not repeat a song previously sung by another group.  if a song is repeated, that group is out.
Groups must be ready to go as soon as the host points at them.  If too much time passes and they can't think of a song, they are out.
The host keeps working around to each group until one group is left as the winning singers.

Lip Sync Contests

Students love them and they are easy to do!  This can be an ongoing project... giving students time to search for a song - then learn all the words - add some choreography  - and finally perform!!

Music/Rhythm Machine

This is a simple add on exercise.  This can be done with voices, body percussion, or random objects that make sound.
Choose one person to start.  They make a noise (or sing a tune) and attach is to an action.  Begin moving and making noise.
Choose another person to join the first, making a complimentary noise and action that somehow fits with that of the first.
Keep adding in students until the space is filled with a music and/or rhythmic and visual orchestra!

That's a rap.

Very much like the Music/Rhythm Machine exercise above, this activity adds in the element of thought and rhyme.
Announce a subject.
Demonstrate an even pulse for eight beats.
Tell the students they each have eight beats of pulse to add their own rap to the project.  Give them time to work on their rhyme.
When students are ready - have the group keep a steady pulse and one by one, add the rhymes together to create a rap!
